House of Slinky in Foreclosure?
It looks like I'm the only person who has posted any adventures since the latter part of January. Shall we call this adventure complete and move onto other things?

Cool new thingee in the "News" section of ChoreWars.com! How nifty is that? Everybody post yer thingee, quick!
Also, Elith has been given a promotion to the rank of "Henchling" and can now create new adventures if inspired to do so :)

Double XP Period now expired
The winds have changed, fellow adventurers. That bright glowing feeling of warmth coming from the Northlands where The Kringle dwells has passed, and experience points are back to normal for whatever tasks to choose to lay claim to.
For those who may have been wondering, yes... it was Varrco The Barbarian Ranger who slayed The Kringle. This is why he was gone for so long. The journey to The Northlands was long and treacherous, but Varrco knew that the jolly fat-man would be at his most vulnerable during the winter months. He had to strike while The Kringle was away, and he had to strike HARD. It should take The Kringle at least another year to rebuild his empire.

Hurray for Elith
One person took me up on my offer of double XP in the Chore Wars! Congrats Elith! You are making something of yourself and that something is sparkling clean!
Double XP time is extended through December 31.

Christmas at the House of Slinky
Did you know that on average people spend more time cleaning their houses around Christmas than any other time of the year?
Did you know that I have taken leadership of the House of Slinky from our own dear Captain, since he was slain by a rare holiday virus that saps all strength out of a person until they are stone cold dead? Shame he wanted to open that present without checking for traps. Rookie mistake.
Did you know as the new leader I can make fun announcements?
Did you know I pronounce that any chores done between now and the end of Christmas day count for double experience points? (just claim them as double instead of normal points). As the current leader of our merry band, I will not be taking any further points until 12/26. This is your chance to play catch up!
Did you know that many of the monsters we fight are wearing the cute little santa hats from the elves they viciously murdered? Go kill one and see.
Did you know we have been hired to kill as many of those monsters as we can to avenge our elven allies?
Did you know that I have purchased Resurrection Spells for all members of the party including Captain Slinky? Welcome back to life. Now get your mops out and get back in the fight!
Did you know?
Well did you?

House of Slinky
Only two of us remain in our adventuring band! Have all the others been slain by random monsters? Will they show up on the final level of the dungeon as zombies? Have they been kidnapped by the liche lord and are they being tortured? What will happen to the House of Slinky?

I, Am a Dork.
mild insanity + no lj access at work + recent roaming of "green" sites while at work + Mystery of the Orb of Incandescence = brand new "House Of Slinky" thingie.http://www.onebillionbulbs.com/Group/HouseofSlinky
The thing I really liked about it was that it let me retroactively enter light bulbs I've changed out, and they haven't spammed the snot out of me.

Beware, noble adventurers...
Just discovered today that there's a cap of 500xp per day to be claimed on Chorewars.com. So if you go for a solid WEEK without claiming your points, you'll only be able to claim the first 500 points once you finally sit down at the keyboard and start clicking.
Trust me, I know this from *personal experience*
So! Varrco hath returned from his exile! I bit grayer and wiser for the experience.
Also, they added a new thing where youc an add a "Location" to your adventures to make them easier to locate in the drop-down menu. I started experimenting with this by taking many of the Slinky-centric adventures and categorizing them as "Slinky Hall", but I think I want to go back and re-do that so it's more group-friendly. "Kitchen", "Bedroom", "Living Room", "Bathroom" and "The Outside World" are all I have figured out so far... anybody have any other locations that will help stream-line the adventuring process?
Sasjhwa the Spotless Fighter has reached level 20. Since I do about 2 - 3 hours of housework a day to keep this place pristine for the selling I've been going up a level every day or two.
Rather than get the supplements to become an avatar of some diety or other, I have decided to retire my character. After I move I may start a new one, but I'm going to leave Sasjhwa there to be the wise old codger who advises the party while they go out and have the adventures of youth. Now try to pass him!

Dear Captain Slinky
Your party misses you. It has been nearly a week since you provided any real competition for me. Are you living in squalor and filth? Have the dust goblins routed you? Break out your +2 broom of sweeping and get back in the fight!
That goes for all you other mugs to, y'hear?

A few edits
Thank goodness for the ability to go back and claim XP earned on previous days!
I edited a few adventures to give out more gold and less XP, most notably Feeldaburn Mountain. Lowered the XP to 50 instead of 90 to reflect a "Daily" workout, and you can claim Double XP if you feel that a particular day of exercise is exceptionally strenuous.
Does that sound okay?

the video is done!
Here is my video:
it's not as polished as I could have it done because I deleted some of the source materials and I could not edit the video anymore. I don't care if people will come to my or House of slinky party as long as there will be more people playing chore wars. :)

I am preparing short youtube movie about chore wars. I am hoping to expose chore wars to a wider audience. I know that old time RPGers and LARPers will dig this, while most people will think I am bat shit insane :D (which, it might be the case). I will keep it short with basic info on the interface and whole CHW vibe :] Ideas?
I know washing your car doesn't make it go faster, but...
Grooming the Noble Steed
For those who don't
clean their car out daily, have a rubbish bag, and remember at least one incident where the fast food wrappers attempted to rise up out of the back seat & stage a coup... Any extensive cleaning of the car. Taking it to the automated car wash only counts if you de-garbage & vacuum extensively afterwards. You could even consider it detailing your own car. I am gathering an at least 5 man party for a very dedicated chore wars group. http://community.livejournal.com/chorewars_party/ just drop there and see what I had already written.
I have few fresh idea on how to make chore wars more fun and how to turn a competition between party members into self development tool.
I am focusing on flexible XP system with few chores to chose from, but with a lot of room for customization (example: The battle of Kitch-en Hills is 50 xp, but you can claim only 1/4 of that if you just did dishes) and good use of items (which will be extimely hard to find or to buy) that will let you claim more exp for certain chores ect.
I am sorry if you consider this spamming, I just want to find people to play with and UNITE the chore wars community under one banner and in one big group
I am already in contact with other groups and trying to get them together.

The Media Room
We have 3 different tasks for 1 room now.
Conqueror of The Mediah Rom for 75 exp.
Cleansing of the Dahdi Lands for 100 exp.
Maintaining the Dahdi Lands for 15 exp.Now I think that may be too much. Cleaning the room should include maintaining the area around the desk, particularly since it is 75 points. If you limit the Cleansing of the Dahdi Lands to a one time award or maybe once a month I could see it, but otherwise it seems rather like a repeated task. And for 100 exp you had better be able to eat off it. Once it is clean it should then fall under the Mediah Rom adventure so you have to clean it every time you want the exp for that one. It will force you to keep it clean then. And your life improves.
My computer is in my living room so I claim it as part of the regular chores in the Battle of Fern-Cheur Valley.
That said, I am all in favor of having some awards that can only be awarded once a month or a catch all award for special projects. Those awards would need to be outlined here though. So I could get points for packing and unpacking my whole condo when I move. But it would only be the one time so it doesn't make sense to make a whole adventure for it.
Something like: Quest of the Mysterious Accomplishment. Base exp is 100 which can be adjusted with the doubler function. That could cover someone doing a major repair on the apartment or painting a room or other strange thing like that too. Your Thoughts? Discuss!

Your Thoughts oh Slinky Party
Since joining the Chore Wars, do you think that you have increased the amount of chores that you do on a daily basis as a direct result of the game?
For myself, I think there have only been a couple times I've consciously said "If I do this I'll get some more exp. Oh what the heck I might as well." Because the place has to be pristine already and cleaned top to bottom every day I'm just doing the same thing I normally would.
Once I move however...
Oh, and I'm Brian's friend Michael from the old Anacortes High School days.
You're all now officially my HENCHLINGS! You have the ability to create and edit Adventures!
Also added a special adventure for supernovame
to cover the trek he must take from Everett to Tukwilla just to see his wife every week. If yer gonna have to be traveling so much, ye may as well get XP fer yer trouble!
